Camel Hair Handspun Yarn

Hand Spun Camel Hair yarn is a result of a community based project, The Snow Leopard Trust, to save the Snow Leopard from extinction.  Communities in Mongolia agree to a conservation project to protect the snow leopard and their habitat.  In return, the Trust purchases hand spun camel wool from the women at a fair wage. The Trust has been working with the families in Mongolia for more than 10 years .  There are currently 400 families in the program. The program also empowers women to raise their individual esteem, enhance the profile of women in the family and community , engage women in the decision making on the environment.  All the project families agree to not kill or trap snow leopards for profit.  The camel hair yarn and other fiber items provide the families with much needed cash as they provide the show leopards with a safe environment.
